Kilo has overcome three mile stones in his short doggie life:
1. befriending another dog
2. his first time playing out doors
3. Somewhat potty trained
I took Kilo to Petsmart to purchase a sweater for him. While we were there he encounter another dog for the first time ( a big one too!) It did not go well. Kilo was terrified he screamed bloody murder when the dog got close enough to sniff him. I quickly pick him up to reassure him that he was alive and still breathing. I held him for the remainder of our shopping trip. Luckily my friend Jessica Dempsey had a better solution for getting him socialized. Her friend’s dog is just about Kilos size and also in need of a playmate. We brought him over to meet Goliath (he weighs about 12-15lbs) Kilo was intimidated at first by Goliaths size, not to forget his first encounter with another dog did not go over so well. But within the hour Kilo and Goliath were fast friends. I was surprised at how brave Kilo was. He would climb on Goliath biting and growling. I was even more surprised at how gently Goliath handled Kilo, he was just rough enough to keep Kilo entertained but I could tell he wasn’t playing at his max capacity.
Kilo and Goliath best friends forever
I haven’t taken Kilo outside much due to the freezing temperatures. Today was really warm for Salt Lake city in January it was 51 degrees and sunny. I bundled him up in his new red sweater and took him to the park. When we got there he was shaking. I wasn’t sure if he was shaking because he was scared or because he was cold. I figured maybe a little bit of both. But we took him to an open field where Jethro attempted to play fetch with him. (He can fetch but only when he’s focused) Kilo was too distracted to actually bring the stick back. He would just run after it and sniff around it once he got to it. As we were leaving the park some kids passed by kicking a soccer ball, Jethro watched as Kilo eyed the ball. “That ball is too big for you buddy.” Then Kilo chased after the ball as far as his leach would allow, and barked for about the third time in his life. We were very pleased with how much he has improved walking on his leach we no longer have to drag him along or pick him up, he will walks on his own now.
Somewhat potty trained means 85 percent of the time Kilo will relief himself on his puppy training pad we set out for him. I figure that is pretty good since we have only had him for three weeks.
