The Aventrues of Kilo

Kilo has overcome three mile stones in his short doggie life:
1.       befriending another dog
2.       his first time playing out doors
3.       Somewhat potty trained
I took Kilo to Petsmart to purchase a sweater for him. While we were there he encounter another dog for the first time ( a big one too!) It did not go well. Kilo was terrified he screamed bloody murder when the dog got close enough to sniff him. I quickly pick him up to reassure him that he was alive and still breathing. I held him for the remainder of our shopping trip.  Luckily my friend Jessica Dempsey had a better solution for getting him socialized. Her friend’s dog is just about Kilos size and also in need of a playmate. We brought him over to meet Goliath (he weighs about 12-15lbs) Kilo was intimidated at first by Goliaths size, not to forget his first encounter with another dog did not go over so well. But within the hour Kilo and Goliath were fast friends. I was surprised at how brave Kilo was. He would climb on Goliath biting and growling. I was even more surprised at how gently Goliath handled Kilo, he was just rough enough to keep Kilo entertained but I could tell he wasn’t playing at his max capacity.

Kilo and Goliath best friends forever

I haven’t taken Kilo outside much due to the freezing temperatures. Today was really warm for Salt Lake city in January it was 51 degrees and sunny. I bundled him up in his new red sweater and took him to the park. When we got there he was shaking. I wasn’t sure if he was shaking because he was scared or because he was cold. I figured maybe a little bit of both. But we took him to an open field where Jethro attempted to play fetch with him. (He can fetch but only when he’s focused) Kilo was too distracted to actually bring the stick back. He would just run after it and sniff around it once he got to it.  As we were leaving the park some kids passed by kicking a soccer ball, Jethro watched as Kilo eyed the ball. “That ball is too big for you buddy.” Then Kilo chased after the ball as far as his leach would allow, and barked for about the third time in his life. We were very pleased with how much he has improved walking on his leach we no longer have to drag him along or pick him up, he will walks on his own now.

Somewhat potty trained means 85 percent of the time Kilo will relief himself on his puppy training pad we set out for him. I figure that is pretty good since we have only had him for three weeks.

Meet our newest addition... Kilo

Thats right we got a puppy!!! Hes soo adorable, I'm so in love! He a black pomeranian with a white strip on his chest, chin and under his paws. He's only nine weeks old. He's teeny tiny weighing about 5lbs, when hes full grown he will weigh less than 10lbs. He's unsucessfully learning how to fetch. He's never barked yet.. were hoping it will stay that way. His personality is so funny and playful. When he is feeling really happy or playful he will hope around and pounce(observe in video below). Seriously its the cutest thing I have ever seen. First order of business getting him potty trained, then were off to the vet on wednesday to get his second set of shots.

Heaven on Earth

It all began with a road trip to Phoenix, AZ. Blake and I drove for 13+ hours to celebrate Sonya receiving her endowment in the Mesa, AZ temple! The drive wasn't as bad as it sounds we made a stop in St. George, UT to pick up Aunt Monna and also in Flagstaff,AZ to have dinner with Grampa. We stopped at a few other places along the way. The bulk of the entertainment was provided by a book on CD, The Host written by Stephenie Meyer.

This was at the North end of the Grand Canyon

Somewhere in AZ... I think

Note the hair... yeah that's what a 13+ hour trip will do to it...

When we got to Phoenix I barley wanted to go outside with 109 degree temperatures, but some how I made it though the day. The Mesa, AZ temple was beautiful inside and out!! It is def on my top 10 fav temples!

After the wonderful experience in the temple we explored Phoenix for a couple of hours and ended the night at Lucilles's BBQ restaurant. YUMMY!!! So soo good.

It was so good to be all together as a family!

We got back on the road first thing in the morning. This time only stopping in St. George to drop Aunt Monna off and to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal from Wendy!!! I never thought I would say this but its good to be back in Utah where the temperature doesn't pass 100 degrees!

picture perfect

You would think that after being married for 3 years we would have some wedding pictures up somewhere in the house right?? Wrong. I found an inspiring picture in the Ikea magazine of a picture frame wall. I decided its time for an art project. So I took myself down to Ikea picked out the cutest picture frames and got to work. Here's what I did...

The only cute ones they had were white and unfortunately the walls in our apartment are white. Plan B, spray paint!

After the paint was dry, I taped computer paper together making it large enough to fit all the frames. Next I  traces the frames onto the paper. Previously seen on HGTV.

Then I taped the paper to the wall and hammered the nails straight through the paper. I put the frames up to make sure it looked OK. Then I gently ripped the paper from the wall leaving the nails in place to reveal.....

Neatly spaced picture frames without measuring, re-measuring or having to nail a million holes in the wall.

Orientation

I consider myself pretty computer savvy but when it comes to blogging its like learning a different language. It took a significant amount of time and banging my head against the wall to get this blog up and running. My first thought was is there a class or some kind of orientation I missed?? How is it possible that everyone just knows how to blog??? At the end of a very long weekend trying to figure everything out, I asked my java script reading husband if he knew anything about blogging... needless to say he pimped my blog in 5 minutes! "If you had asked me sooner you would have saved your self a lot of time and trouble." He said. "Wow, thanks!" I replied. Best husband ever... note to self Jethro knows everything..
